RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 

My working experience started with the Government where I worked in the then Ministry of Commerce and Industry as a Trade Development Officer in various departments including the Sugar Distribution Department, Internal Trade, Trade Licensing Office and the external Trade Department.

 

I have banking experience gained from working with a Multinational Bank in Kenya, where I was a Regional Manager (for East Africa) in charge of Management Training and Development. In this capacity, I was involved in designing systems and structures for both the Retail and Corporate operations of the bank. I am therefore quite familiar with lending operations at both retail and wholesale levels.

 

I have also worked with a World Bank/ CGAPP funded Microfinance Capacity Building Project, covering eleven countries in Africa. I was employed as a senior Microfinance Development Specialist working directly with Microfinance Institutions to build their Institutional Capacities through training and dissemination of Best Practice Tools and Systems. In this position, I gained valuable contacts among the international donors who support Microfinance operations in Africa.

 

Finally, as the Chief Executive Officer of the association of Microfinance Institutions, I had the responsibility of promoting the performance of Microfinance Institutions through promotion of Performance Standards, Capacity Building, lobbying and Networking.

 

In addition to the formal work experience, I have over 15 years experience of Consulting in the Public, Banking, Corporate, Small and Micro – Business Enterprise as well as the dynamic Micro Finance Sectors in Kenya and in region.  I have also taught and conducted research for several years in many of the leading Public and Private Universities in Kenya.
